Overview

The implementation of pharmacogenetics helps physicians make informed treatment decisions. This can lead to better patient outcomes by decreasing adverse drug events and by increasing the effectiveness of drugs using data, research, science and the analysis and interpretation of the data by a licensed Healthcare Provider. With the knowledge of a patient's genetic status and the appropriate database, Advanced Genetics Lab can assist physicians to predict patient response to certain drugs and optimize treatment protocols. This ushers in the era of "personalized medicine," where drug combinations and dosages are optimized for each individual's unique genetic makeup.

However, we also realize the limited amount of time a physician has for results interpretation and then choosing effective alternatives.   We integrate the support of a licensed pharmacists with every PGx test report generated.  This ensures we can optimize drug therapy and improve the therapeutic outcomes for each patient.

For health care organizations participating in performance-based third party contracts the need for medication management has never been greater.  Adverse Drug Events (ADE) have been linked to one-third of hospital emergency room visits and is a leading cause for hospital admissions (7% annually) thus having a substantial impact on mortality, morbidity and health-care costs. Technology options for implementing a human genome and genome sequence data analysis has improved greatly over the past several years. Thus making access to point of care service support for local providers an option for routine patient care assessments. Advanced Genetics Lab will incorporate medical provider training and education, provide integrated pharmacy support and a secure web-based platform for communicating medical support and test results, thus enabling routine use of pharmacogenetics testing.  Our goal is simple:

  • Improve each experience of care for providers and patients

  • Reduce Adverse Drug Events

  • Reduce the cost of care

We do more than just manage prescriptions, we help providers look at all aspects of care which can impact the patients quality of life.

Licensed Pharmacists support

Our Genome assessment tools enables medical professionals to systemically address the sometimes complex needs of patients.  Our advanced reports take into consideration a vast amount of information to help assess the efficacy and impact of both drug-drug and gene-drug interactions.  Knowing there are more than one alternative, having a licensed pharmacists to assist in choosing the best alternative helps to expedite the process and frees up the physician to spend time treating the patient.  We establish a collaboration between physician, pharmacists and patient; no one in the treatment protocol is acting alone.

secure data base

Our web-based platform enables 24/7 security and is HIPAA compliant.  With a real-time connection to medical offices, test samples can be pre-authorized (as needed) by third parties prior to requisitions being submitted to labs.  Authorizations, eligibility confirmation, lab results and access to billing information all resides in our secure platform.  We support preemptive pharamcogenetic testing which enables a patients genomic assessment to be stored and accessible in the future by the treating physician.  Adjustments to the patients care plan can then be entered and a new assessment report generated identifying any potential drug-drug and  drug-gene conflicts.

intelligent reports

In addition to providing a detailed gene-drug interaction report we maintain each patient-specific result in a secure data base.  So when your patient world changes we simply update their profile and re-assess any potential dangerous interactions and proactively discuss this we our medical professional partners.
